Meet the Loaves: Jalapeño Cheddar Edition

There are loaves you make because they’re classic… and then there are loaves you make because people won’t stop asking for them. This one definitely falls into the second category.

Welcome to the Jalapeño Cheddar Sourdough — bold, cozy, just a little spicy, and hands-down one of my most requested loaves.

 

Why This Loaf Exists

This loaf started as a “just for fun” bake. I wanted something packed with flavor — the kind of bread that doesn’t need butter (but let’s be honest… it’s amazing with it).

After a few test bakes, tweaks, and taste tests, this version became the one. The balance matters here:

  • Not too spicy
  • Not too cheesy
  • Still very much real sourdough

It’s flavorful without overpowering, and it works just as well with breakfast eggs as it does alongside a bowl of soup or chili.

 

What Makes It Special

This loaf starts with my signature naturally fermented sourdough — slow-fermented for flavor and texture — then folded with:

  • Sharp cheddar cheese that melts right into the crumb
  • Jalapeños that add warmth without overwhelming heat

Every loaf is mixed, shaped, and baked by hand. No shortcuts. No fillers. Just good ingredients and time.

If you’re wondering “Is it spicy?” — here’s the honest answer:

🌶️ Mild to medium heat 

🧀 Rich, cheesy pockets throughout

🥖 Chewy crust + soft, flavorful interior
