Ingredients
- 2 slices Jalapeño & Cheddar Sourdough
- 2 slices cheddar cheese

- Softened butter
Instructions
- Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place one slice of bread butter-side down in a skillet over medium-low heat.
- Layer the cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese on top. Add the second slice of bread with the buttered side facing up.
- Cook for approximately 3–4 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown.
- Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3–4 minutes, until the second side is golden and the cheese is completely melted.
- Remove the sandwich from the skillet, slice it in half, and serve warm with tomato soup, chips, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Jen’s Tip
Keep the skillet over medium-low heat. Cooking the sandwich slowly gives the cheese enough time to melt without the sourdough becoming too dark.
If the bread is browning before the cheese has melted, cover the skillet with a lid for about 30 seconds. The trapped heat will help finish melting the cheese.
Make It Your Own
Add cooked bacon, sliced avocado, or a thin layer of cream cheese before grilling. You can also use all cheddar or all Monterey Jack if that’s what you already have.
The Bread Makes It
Jalapeño & Cheddar Sourdough adds savory flavor and a little heat to every bite, turning an ordinary grilled cheese into something a little more special.
Save this one for an easy lunch or a cozy soup-and-sandwich night.
